Behavior Analysis is a data driven, scientifically validated, approach to understanding human learning and behavior. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the application of behavior-based principles in order to increase positive behaviors that are socially valid to the individual.

A Behavior Technician (BTs) provides individual behavior therapy in the learner’s home, clinical setting, and sometimes at the learner’s school, in coordination with school administrators. ABA treatment plans are designed and developed by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The BCBA continues to supervise the treatment programs which are delivered by a Behavior Technician.

Treatment goals are written based on the age and ability level of the individual and target many different skill areas i.e., communication and language, social skills, self-care (such as showering and toileting), food exposure, play/leisure, motor skills, learning and academic skills. The treatment plan breaks down each of these skills or into small, concrete steps that later develop into more complex behaviors. The BCBA and BTs measure progress by collecting data in each therapy session. This data is crucial in helping us monitor your child’s progress toward goals.

All of our BTs receive in house training as well as the required 40-hours training that is necessary to become Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Both our BTs and BCBAs participate in crisis management (QBS), HIPAA, and mandated reporting training. At Bloom and Grow Therapy Center we believe that learning never stops. We create opportunities for our staff to receive continuous education during monthly meetings, to deliver information that ensures our skills and techniques are up to date with the latest science in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis.
